Emilie Cassou, Abt Associates

With over seven years of technical consulting experience at the intersection of policy, markets and the environment, Emilie Cassou joined Abt Associates as a Climate Change Adaptation and Food Security Associate.

She is currently working with USAID Mali to assess and respond to agricultural value chains’ vulnerability to climate change, and to deliver a series of trainings on climate change adaptation and carbon market opportunities. She is an expert on climate policy and carbon market design, having spent the past years writing about the international and US climate & energy debates, modeling emission markets to forecast allowance prices, and providing strategic investment advice to clients in relation to environmental regulations and markets.

Prior to joining Abt, Ms. Cassou was the lead author of ICF International’s Emission Market Outlook’s carbon chapter, and the lead analyst for New Energy Finance’s North American carbon markets insight service, which she launched upon joining the company. Her experience with agricultural development and environmental markets dates further back, her work with the World Bank’s Agriculture and Rural Development Department having centered around harnessing weather markets for risk management and climate change adaptation.

Beforehand, Emilie co-authored studies on international trade and development, corporate social responsibility and socially responsible finance at the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
