Richard Lord, Milliman
Richard is a principal and consulting actuary with the Los Angeles office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 1987, served on the firm’s Casualty Steering Committee, and Chaired the firm’s Post Release Peer Review Committee.
Richard is Chair of the American Academy of Actuaries Medical Professional Liability Committee. He is the managing principal of Milliman’s Los Angeles office, and co-manages Milliman’s Property & Casualty practices in San Francisco and Seattle.
Richard’s primary areas of practice are multiple-peril crop insurance, microinsurance, medical malpractice, and workers compensation.
During his twenty-five year career at Milliman, Richard has worked in a variety of insurance environments. His clients include insurance companies, reinsurers, risk retention groups, self-insurers, captive insurance companies, state insurance associations, NGOs and Federal agencies.
The assignments Richard has completed include development of insurance rates, review of reinsurance contracts, analysis of new insurance products, and loss reserve calculations.
He is the author of numerous crop insurance papers and articles, has been invited to speak at seminars sponsored by the Casualty Actuarial Society on crop insurance ratemaking, and has briefed the joint U.S. House and Senate Agriculture Committee on crop insurance ratemaking issues.
