Ralf Radermacher, Micro Insurance Academy (MIA)

Ralf Radermacher is the Director of Research & Training of the Micro Insurance Academy (MIA), a Delhi-based charitable trust dedicated to evidence-based studies, training and advisory services for microinsurance units serving the poor. He was instrumental in setting up the MIA, and positioning it as one of the world's leading institutions for microinsurance technical assistance in less than a year. Before joining the MIA, Ralf worked at the University of Cologne where he was involved in teaching and research on cooperatives. He is still affiliated as research fellow. He coordinated the EU funded project "Strengthening Micro Health Insurance Units for the Poor in India" and undertook several consultancies for GTZ. Prior to this, Ralf worked with one of the largest German development NGOs (Deutsche Welthungerhilfe) and gained insight into work of further public (Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation & Development) as well as private (GFA Umwelt) players in the development domain. Ralf holds a postgraduate degree in economics from the University of Cologne and spent a term abroad at Birmingham University. Network role: Facilitator for the Impact Working Group
