Peter Wrede, The World Bank
Peter Wrede, of German nationality, worked 4 years at a mutual life insurance company in Germany where he qualified as an actuary. He then worked for 14 years at two leading reinsurance companies as head of controlling and as marketing actuary, with focus on life and health business in Latin America and on Islamic insurance in the Middle East. Between 2007 and 2011, he developed microinsurance for the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance, building a portfolio of 50,000 lives in Tanzania and half a million lives in Pakistan, and exploring the possibilities for microinsurance in various other countries, as well as conducting studies on the reinsurance needs specific to microinsurance. He holds a degree in mathematics from Heidelberg University and has lived in Mexico, Peru and Chile. Speaks: German, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese Network role: Member
