Micro Insurance Academy searches for a development officer

The Micro Insurance Academy (MIA) is a non-for-profit organisation fully dedicated to providing technical assistance in microinsurance domain-knowledge to low-income communities and organisations supporting such communities. To assist with all matters related to MIA’s resources mobilisation and communication, MIA looks for a development officer, to be based in New Delhi, India. The position tasks are related to three main activities: fundraising, partnership development and communication.

Short-term consultancy for Support to the Health Sector Project in Lao PDR

June 2012

In order to support the health sector in Lao PDR, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the Swiss Red Cross (SRC), GRET and Lao Consulting Group (LCG) have formed a consortium to offer technical assistance to the Ministry of Health of Lao PDR for the Support to the Health Sector Project (SHSP). A very important part of this project aims at contributing to the improvement of the financial accessibility to health care services by supporting the Ministry of Health insurance programme directed to the informal sector (CBHI).

The objectives of this consultancy are:

  • To identify possible contribution collection mechanisms, in compliance with decentralisation and cost-efficiency objectives, for both rural and urban areas
  • To select two or three favoured options, and for those, provide recommendations on implementation mechanism and their costs.

Access to Insurance Initiative seeks a consultant to develop a self-assessment tool for insurance supervisors

June 2012

The Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii) is working together with the IAIS to develop a self-assessment on inclusive insurance markets. A2ii wishes to appoint a specialist to develop an IAIS self-assessment tool for insurance supervisors on practices that are conducive to accessible insurance markets consistent with the IAIS Application Paper on the topic.

Interested parties are invited to submit a proposal, including a description of their understanding of the project, a résumé and a financial proposal, by the 11 July 2012.

Access to Insurance Initiative seeks impact evaluation consultant

Access to Insurance Initiative wishes to appoint a consultant to undertake an evaluation of the Indian insurance regulatory environment and microinsurance market in order to:

  • Assess the impact of policy and regulatory changes on the development of the microinsurance market in India; and
  • Generate lessons to inform policy, regulation and supervision initiatives in other jurisdictions that aim to advance access to insurance.

Interested parties are invited to submit a proposal by the 6 July 2012.

GRET seeks a project manager for health insurance programme in Cambodia

GRET, a French non-profit association, seeks a specialist in social health protection to become its new health insurance programme (HIP/SKY) project manager in Cambodia.

Under the supervision of the microinsurance programme manager in the head office, the project manager will be in charge of the HIP/SKY urban project management, and will supervise the operational management of health insurance activities of garment workers contracts, manage the local team, implement and design training sessions and develop capitalization projects.

The position is based in Phnom Penh within the Governance and social inclusion team. Application must be sent before the 25 June 2012.

Participate to the interactive launch of the Microinsurance Compendium, Vol. II

On the 3 July 2012, the ILO's Microinsurance Innovation Facility organises an interactive session with the authors of the Microinsurance Compendium, Vol. II. It will bring the opportunity to meet with key microinsurance stakeholders, to dialogue in small groups around specific topics and to network with peers. By attending, participants will get an overview of the major trends of the microinsurance sector and have the possibility to interact with some authors in 'Questions corners'.

Attendance should be confirmed upon registration. For those of you who cannot attend physically, a webcast will be organised to share the plenary and a special Q&A session with the authors will be set up online.
