Network field trip: School of hard knocks
Following on from the 6th International Microinsurance Conference in the Philippines, Coralie Zacchino and Matthew Genazzini from the secretariat of the Microinsurance Network embarked on a field visit to three cooperatives (CLIMBS, FICCO and Gata Daku) on the southern island of Mindanao.
 The goal of their visit was to learn about how microinsurance works in practice and to see some of the structures that exist to enable the provision of these services in the Philippines. They were joined on the visit by Eamon Kelly, Microinsurance Programme Manager at Women’s World Banking in Jordan.

The latest edition of the Microinsurance Network's newsletter is available in English, French and Spanish.
This edition focuses on the 6th International Microinsurance Conference in the Philippines and the issues paper on the regulation and supervision of mutuals, cooperatives and other community-based organisations, which was prepared by the IAIS-Microinsurance Network Joint Working Group. The paper is directed at the wide range of forms, names, and functions of these organisations. The case study of CARD MBA’s experience in the Philippines illustrates how their internal structural changes facilitated the formalisation of the organisation’s microinsurance activities.
