Participate in the 2012 Commercial Insurers in microinsurance survey

The Microinsurance Network is conducting a survey on commercial insurance companies, with an additional focus on brokers and reinsurers. This survey is an upgrade of the 2011 study Commercial insurers in microinsurance and focuses on understanding incentives and long-term perspectives for commercial companies' involvement in the low-income market. It includes new-comers in the microinsurance sector, focuses on lessons learnt, follows-up on the 2011 study results and seeks to identify new trends.

Please take the opportunity to complete the survey and participate in the gathering of experience-based data which is critical to the development and success of microinsurance. If you have not received the survey yet, please contact the Microinsurance Network's consultants at the following email address: microinsurancenetwork.study@gmail.com.

The survey will be closed on the 20th October 2012.

Policy Seminar on Access to Insurance

The Access to Insurance Initiative and the Joint Working Group of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and the Microinsurance Network are organising a policy seminar on access to insurance for regulators, supervisors and policy makers. The seminar will take place on the morning of the 6 November 2012 and will be hosted by the Munich Re Foundation within the context of the 8th International Microinsurance Conference, in Dar es Salaam, Tanizania.

Senior supervisors and leading microinsurance experts will present lessons and case studies that compare and analyse the different regulatory as well as operational aspects of various initiatives underway for improving financial access around the world. Supervisors will also share their recent experiences on how policy and regulatory challenges to stimulate insurance market development can be addressed. Two major topics will guide experts' dialogue: intermediation models that work for the low-income segment and market conduct issues.
