The Distribution Working Group aims to better understand the opportunities and challenges of various existing and potential channels to expand and improve distribution of insurance to low-income households.

The group met met for the second time this year in November at the 7th International Microinsurance Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Information on the next steps will be available soon.

Annual workplan

In 2011, the Distribution Working Group will:

• Undertake 1 -2 new projects
• Landscape study of products and clients
  • Sponsor/contribute to established Terms of Reference (ToR)
• Review, comment on and finalise CENFRI paper
• Finalise seed funding proposal

Past activities

2010

The Working Group drafted a paper on CENFRI and established ToR for the Distribution-Product-Customer survey.

This Working Group was established in November 2008.

Mode of operations

This Working Group will organise quarterly conference calls and meet in person at the annual June meeting. Working Group members will be encouraged to create sub-groups to tackle projects and devise their own work programmes. The sub-groups will be expected to provide updates and proposals to the wider Working Group on a quarterly basis.
