For 20 years the Microinsurance Network (MiN) has been driving inclusive insurance through its unique multi-stakeholder membership, strategic partnerships and with the generous support from the Government of Luxembourg.
In the first part of this MiN 20th anniversary series, we look back and reflect on the past couple of decades, and the Network's evolution from small working group to how it came to be what it is today – a still-growing, committed, global multi-stakeholder community of some 500 experts, with a mission to collectively promote the development and delivery of effective risk management tools, including insurance for those who need it most.
While the microinsurance market in Colombia is still evolving, it has significant growth potential. Challenges undoubtedly remain, but there are encouraging signs of progress in achieving a more dynamic market for inclusive insurance in this diverse Latin American country. Our full monthly country briefing notes are available to download free of charge for members but also for non-members to purchase.
Low- and middle-income countries are more vulnerable to the impacts of climate change with smallholder farmers in particular suffering disproportionately.
Together with ISF Advisors, the MiN has published a new State of the Sector report today which analyses the key issues that will further shape a shared understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the agri-insurance market as we continue our efforts to close the protection gap and improve resilience to climate change – with smallholder farmers centre stage in the action agenda.
