Our flagship Landscape of Microinsurance report is published annually and is a research series tracking the uptake of inclusive insurance products and services, along with insights into emerging trends connected with closing the people protection gap. The findings and positive impact of the Study have been very clearly seen over the decade since it launched and in this article, we take a look at how it has evolved and developed as well as preview some of the key highlights from the 2023 report which will be published in early 2024
While the use of technology and digital innovation is key to filling the gaps in the penetration of insurance - particularly to new, often hard-to-reach communities - tried-and-tested approaches to innovation are still highly relevant and important. In this article, we look at why partnerships are a cornerstone of distributing a microinsurance service and highlight some examples from West Africa that show that partnerships with MFIs still offer much potential to reach uninsured and underinsured customers.
