According to the WHO and World Bank, 1.4bn people have incurred financial hardship because of having to fund their health costs. In this article, we look at how microinsurance can provide a solution and highlight the tremendous work that World Vision, VisionFund and the Swiss Capacity Building Fund have been doing through their savings-linked insurance products in Ghana and Malawi.
Successful examples of innovation in agricultural index insurance have relied on several partners working together to build resilience to the impacts of the climate crisis among the underserved. Among the key stakeholders in the value chain are donors who have played a vital role in launching several agricultural index insurance services.
In this article, we highlight some of the groundbreaking work being undertaken by the INSURED programme that was launched in 2018 by the International Fund for Agricultural Development and which aims to build the climate resilience of poor rural households, increase their capacity to manage climate risk and strengthen their livelihoods.
