Women play a crucial role for economic development, and yet they are often excluded from financial products. To meet SDG 5, insurance can be considered as a key mechanism for women’s economic empowerment and resilience; but to do this, barriers need to be broken down and customer-centric, tailored services that truly meet emerging women’s specific needs must be provided.
Why should insurers look at the benefits of blockchain? And what part does microinsurance have to play in this phenomenon? We shine a light on these and other challenges to try and see whether the global insurance industry really does have a chance of reaching the last-mile customer.
